Preserving the history of the Sierra Valley

The Yard

The fenced yard on the west side of the museum building features a G-scale outdoor railroad project as well as historical logging and ranching equipment from the Sierra Valley.

The G-scale railroad spans an area that is 130’×60’ with multiple track routes and numerous bridges and tunnels. It will eventually have two towns (“Robsonville” and “Nelson Springs”) to honor local model railroad enthusiasts who contributed much of the trains, track, and buildings used, as well as ranch and logging scenes.

The Sierry Valley logging equipment display includes a huge steam tractor that pulled log wagons, and both wheeled and tracked pieces that were used to lift and drag cut trees to a loading location.
